Longevity is at an all-time high, with a proportionate part of the population in the US, over 65, unprecedented in human history. On the plus side, the new ‘older’ population is vital, feels younger and continues to want to pursue goals. This group of Americans continues to make friends and develop their passions. They want to laugh and they want to be of use, rather than be taken care of. In short, they’ve begun to believe that a future is not a thing that is merely the province of the young.
- It is important for churches to focus on seniors, and the services the seniors provide
- Most seniors are looking for ways to help as part of their goals
- Middle aged and senior church members would benefit from having church leadership structure their contributions to their parish
“New seniors hold their physical bodies in high esteem and care for them as conscientiously as any other valuable property.”
