Even someone over forty years of age can get in shape and build serious muscle mass. Intensity and dedication are more important than simple techniques and other external factors. Time spent working toward the goal, using proper science, and exercises do count, but it all starts with staying motivated and believing in yourself. Regardless of age or current physical status, gaining muscle is possible. Focus your mind, then look for the right program or coach to help you put your body where you’ve decided you want to be.
- Muscles respond to stimulation. It’s all about the intensity of the work out. The amount of reps aren’t necessarily an issue if you work hard enough
- The amount of reps when you’re over 40 should be lower but not too low. Find that middle. the weight should be lighter, as your muscles do not have the same elasticity anymore
- Try not to jerk your muscles too much. That’s how people tear the muscles. End a rep slowly to avoid this.
